A town whose symbol is cracked, whose QB is an ex-con and a sadist, a population where 25% is close to the poverty line, and whose idea of Haute Cuisine is Cheez Whiz based. Let freedom ring.
But what a starting rotation!
Spending this holiday season seems to be up about 5% over last season. Those with jobs seem to feel better about their future and are willing to spend. Good for them.
Unemployment benefits have been extended for those who have lost their jobs. I am all for that. It's just that many of these jobs probably aren't coming back. 30 or more years ago, Playtex had a factory in Princeton W.V.. It closed in a cost cutting move. Those jobs weren't coming back. Global businesses move production all the time. They don't need the United States to produce goods. Food yes, and corporate farming needs less people to do that every year. Soon, unemployed because one is overqualified will be not a reality, but only a conceit.
As the Irish t-shirts said, 'The IMF took me shirt'. Greece and others could well wear the same shirts. After agreeing to severe cuts in spending, trying to recover from what their banks helped foster, their bond ratings are downgraded to junk status. Maybe it's fair, but maybe it has just been brought about. By globalists, of monetary and other ilks.
When globalists run a nation, ruination is not unlikely to follow. When done with intention, such leadership is treason.
The I.M.F. will now help decide Ireland's fiscal fate. After playing in the world economy, and making their bankers happy, they are under the sway of World Bank. The true extent has yet to be outlined , but self-determinism and learning from mistakes can safely be ruled out. Even ex I.M.F.ers agree that is probably not a good thing. It is not truly a global system yet, but Spain and Portugal are next on the hit list. Can the U.S. be far behind. It is amusing that Britain, which is not directly tied to the euro, shall have to help their old buddies out. Since European nations are obligated to crushing bailouts if everything goes south, just who will own everything that is left.
